Charger Mayhem - I'm Drowning in Chargers

Asking all you wise ones - how do you deal with many chargers? I think of myself as a pretty organized person but obviously I wasn't even aware of this one.

I'm having a terrible time because I haven't labeled them. Now I can't find the connector between my new camera and the computer to download. Yes, I can take the card out of the camera and put it in the computer, but that's not the point. In looking for this particular cord I came up with 20 YES 20 ! cords, connectors, chargers and who knows what else.

I promise I will never let this chaos happen again if you let me in on your secret. Lecture me all you want, post pictures, go ahead and have at me, I'm totally beaten.

Daisy chained plug boards fixed onto a vertical surface in a cupboard rather than throwing them all in a drawer.

The human mind is very good at remembering placement and places and as long as you don't move them you will pretty well always remember which charger goes to which gadget.

You could even label each receptacle "Shaver", "Camera" etc. and the spatial arrangement would remain even if you replaced the gadget and it's charger.

Even if you don't daisy chain the electrics it's a good way to store them anyway.

How many are the same?
The vaste majority of our gear at the device end is micro USB
Same cord and charger can be used across multiple device.

At the power end they are all USB
Again, any of the leads can be plugged into a single charge source.
We are fortunate I guess to have inverters and 240v plugs throughout the boat and strategic plugs have 2x 2 amp USB charging ports built in.
No more actual chargers, just leads at the "charging station"

Our system is unique(ish) because of our setup: we have a boat with a million cabinets, and we have a boat with 3 kittens. Kittens, for those who don't know, love to eat cords. So I wired a socket and power strip into a convenient cabinet, put all the chargers and cords on the other shelf of it, and bingo, everything in one place and safe from mischief. Powerstrip has a powered USB charger bank plugged with a couple USB B and C cords, and room for charging bases for VHFs, drone and camera batteries, rechargable battery charger, etc, which are all on the lower shelf so I know where to reach. Works great if you got the space.

I use a Brother P-Touch label maker and label everything! Wrap the label around the cord so it sticks out like a streamer.....

Use a silver Sharpie marker (white or gold also work on black chargers, black on white chargers like from Apple) to write what the charger is for directly on the body of the charger. This works best when done immediately after removing the charger from the package it came in.

The only grief is Nikon cameras uses a mini HDMI ended cord for transfer/charging. Try and find one of those on short notice.

+1. The important thing to remember is labeling the cord immediately, and not put it off (too long)!

This used to be a major problem for me several years ago, when everything had a dedicated wallplug adapter and a proprietary round DC plug. Now, most of my devices are either apple or micro usb.

A few minutes on eBay I'm sure you'll find them for a dollar or two.
Buy a lifetime supply and never worry again.
Its what I do for commonly used cables, connectors, pretty much anything.
