Why do loners have to defend their choice? We aren't defending. We're like people that find religion. Happy, a song in our heart. We want you to know once a man quits trying to make a chronically unhappy woman happy it's liberating. The quiet and calmness that overcomes the boat is amazing. Now there's closet space to spare. You get to be a man again. No more feminization, and pee standing up, not that I ever sat.

I always thought that "in rough and rolling seas all good sailors sit to pee."
Good point about a partner who helps solve problems rather than creating new ones.

Well each to their own, but I found that almost everything worth achieving, takes effort and often compromises.
For me there are
Sunsets!
and then there are
SUNSETS!

I find that absence works best for both of us.

I understand what your saying boatie, because for many years during my career at sea I was without a partner, had all the "solitude" I wanted and was very happy.
It took the death of both my parents within weeks of each other to make me realise that I was missing something.
Thier 50+ year commitment to each other went beyond their lifespan and was something I needed to consider.
So I retired early at 49 and went searching for a person that I could trust, relate to, love and respect.
Took a while to adjust and see through the plastic ones but I found exactly what I was looking for 14 years ago (in March) and have never been happier.
I still have my solitude, she actually needs her quite time more than I.
We don't "Need" each other, but we certainly want each other
Living together is a compromise, but only of physical things, IF you respect each others need for solitude

It’s probably the man that’s not always right
