Aspiring Liveaboard Looking for Someone Living the Dream in Kemah, TX to Talk to

I'm very early in the process of trying to make the dream a reality. My wife and I will be in Kemah in March for sailing lessons and I'd like to meet any liveaboards down there to talk about the challenges and get a feel for what the reality of living aboard is like.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I am moving my boats (stupid I know two boats) to Kemah. I am trying to decide on which Marina is right for me.

I would like Floating, and covered....and keep my Go Fast boat high and dry either on a lift, rack storage, or dry storage.

Just looking for input..

Hi turboneat, Ocean Girl, and Texas Skipper

Funny to see this thread - my wife and I are also considering buying a boat in the near future, cruising, and living aboard - and we're in Texas too (DFW)! Not sure where we would make our home base yet. We made a trip to St. Augustine, FL during spring break to spend a night aboard a boat with some friends of the family who are full-time liveaboard cruisers. We're also new to sailing although I had some experience in smaller boats when I was much younger. Looks like it would be a great way to live and see almost as much of the world as you want - eventually. Hopefully we will also make a trip to Kemah sometime during the summer.

Hey Erika, nice blog. Bummer about your baby ducks.

For anyone considering the Kemah area, it's great. Come on down.

Thanks Ralf, poor chicks, they are all gone...lousy thugs.

Hey travelphotog, there are tons of liveaboards around here. If you are curious about the cruisers lifestyle the SSCA has a meet every month, just pm me and I'll direct you to the SSCA coordinator for this area. There is also the Texas Mariners Cruisers Association (I think that is what they are called). these groups are a great way to meet cruisers and livaboards.

Turboneat, the boaters big flea market is coming up in May (goodies galore!!!) let me know when y'all are comin down next.

E
