Re: Are Liveaboards stupid?

Lots of people live aboard because it's a cheap way of living.

TOTALY STUPID. Or that is the image that has to be kept up so as the others who perceive live aboards in such light do not learn the truth and inundate the seas, anchorages and marinas with new plastic fantastics etc etc.

Don't listen to Salt Monkey, he's just trying to play on your insecurity and to use you.

I, on the other hand, will give you $12K!

Re: Are Liveaboards stupid?

Heading down to Mexico for the winter isn't in the cards this year so I just bought a new house on the hill overlooking the marina where I keep the boat. This winter I can look at the boat through my binoculars when the snow is coming down while I sit near my fireplace in my robe & slippers, hot toddy in hand, faithfull retriever by my side and contemplate my next adventure!
I'm a lucky man and I know it.

Re: Are Liveaboards stupid?

I just looked at your webpage. Would love to do some of that cruising. Lower latitudes are so overrated. but you may never leave once there.
What heating system do you have?
I purchased a diesel heater ( yet to be tested).
Good luck and stick with your dream...

I hate winters also. just unbearable when it gets down in the 60's. Have to wait until after lunch to go water skiing, lose half a day waiting.

And apologies... did not realise you guys were actually on the move... maybe you'll work out a deal as you head on... summers drifting S and winters in a warm house... till the butter melts....

Re: Are Liveaboards stupid?

You guys are lucky to be able to live out your dream. Don't waste it by second guessing yourselves. Sometimes I think I'd sell my soul to be able to just up and leave for anywhere on a yacht with my son.

Re: Are Liveaboards stupid?

If your wife doesn't come around, I'd move back ashore or be prepared for the probability that you will be living aboard alone at some point in the future. Cold, wet, confining space with a resentful first mate won't lead to a good outcome. I give her credit for giving it a bit longer before telling you what you probably already know.

She will always come first with me no matter what I want and I am happy with that.
