Anyone willing to visit in the Galveston area?

I'll be in the Galveston, Tx area the week of April 17th and was wanting to visit with people living aboard their boats full or part time. I've been following cruisersforum for a few years now but have yet to become active in the community, mainly just lurking and picking up information.
A little about me.
I've owned many power boats thru the years. I grew up on a lake in Oklahoma and still live close to the water. While I have yet to own or even board a sail boat larger than 24 feet, the attraction is there. Unfortunately there simply aren't any sailboats larger than 30 feet on the lake where I live and certainly no live aboards. I would like to get some exposure to a sailboat large enough to serve as a live aboard and visit with as many people as I can.
The week I'll be down there is flexible as is the location although I would rather be close to the Galveson / Houston area.

I won't be in town, but if you go down to southshore harbour, watergate, etc...down in kemah area, plenty of people will talk to you. Thats what we did when we bought our boat.

That my friend is an OUTSTANDING idea! Thank you! Being a 10 hour drive for me, it's difficult to meet people in the live aboard community. I've been lurking here for a long time but rarely have information I can add to discussions.
I have been keeping my eyes open for a good starter boat to learn basic lake sailing and have selected a yacht club that offers lessons. I live less than a quarter mile from a small lake here in Oklahoma so a trailer sailor will have to do for now.

We are going through a Van De Stadt 44 in prep for a short sail away. Drop me a note when you head to town.

We may be to take you on our first day sail.

That is a very kind and much appreciated offer. If it works out, then the food and drink will be on me. If not, I'd be happy to bring lunch or dinner and sit around visiting for a while or what ever works for you.
I only have a short bit of business, otherwise my week is free to roam the docks and boatyards and generally enjoy myself. My girl friend lived in southern Houston for several years, some time back so I'll have a guide of sorts.

Re: Anyone willing to visit in the Galveston area?

We made it to Galveston safely last night. I spent today, Saturday walking docks and talking to some great and friendly people. I was lucky enough to run across an open house with 20 or so used boats. I fell in love with a 41 foot Catalina. I very much liked that boat.
If nothing else, this trip was well worth it even if those are the only boats I'll get to see. You can look at thousands of pictures I'd cabin layouts, and I have, but you don't truly get an idea of how much room there is to move around until you are actually in one. I must say, I'm even more in love with sailboats now than ever!
Safe sailing everyone.

Much thanks to Tkeeth for the offer of a visit but he got called out of town.
