Re: Anyone live aboard a sailboat and motor everywhere?

Intracoastal waterway, aka the ditch, aka brown water highway.

Re: Anyone live aboard a sailboat and motor everywhere?

Thanks. Yes! Good old wikipedia. But it's nice to hear from experienced sailors.

Re: Anyone live aboard a sailboat and motor everywhere?

The ICW is a long ditch that many east coast sailors use to avoid actually sailing out in the ocean. West coasters don't have that option, perhaps to their betterment.

Re: Anyone live aboard a sailboat and motor everywhere?

I spend quite abit if time around a mates trawler, a Selene 48. I would very much like that boat. He crossed the Pacific in it. It's true trawlers cross oceans but I wouldn't do it in an old one unless it had been repowered and had me a "get me home backup system " which his has. This particular one towed another trawler 300nm in the Papua region when it broke down, I was travelling with them.

As an ex motor mechanic I only had a job because mechanical things break. For the time being I'll stick to a sail boat as I like two propulsion systems.

Really?
Is this a contest to see how many can answer the same question over and over and over again?

ICW? Translates to "I Can Wait"... E.g for the bridges to open or locks if any [emoji1]
