I was not saying Boca is rural, but in general, that living cheap stateside is IMO more pleasant in the less built up areas.

Florida has many very different community types, some pretty unique.

Yes...and I covered that as it's basically the same as an airbnb but with some complications that need to be considered...whether tenant or landlord those considerations are important.

If you trip on a loose floorboard then the landlords insurance says he doesn't have commercial insurance and his net worth is less than your medical bills...it's still a problem for you.

Or if it's against the rules and the marina finds out, you could be kicked out with no place to live.

There's yet another downside: Bnb patrons have a bad rep at the marinas: they get drunk and do destructive things like turning boats loose. No way I'd want one in a marina I was staying at. Landlubbers do not know how to BE on boats.

Please understand, this is not against the OP, but it is how it is in the world. Nobody who cares about their boat like a cruising couple does will want bnb boats there. You've been out sailing, you come "home", and there's a loud party, or boats have been cast loose in the marina, creating a hazard, nope, no way.

A non-running van parked near the beach rents for $300 a month, berth on a boat ought to cost more than that, hard to save money and live at the beach.
