Re: Adult toys onboard
This the sort of topic that I really enjoy. Not for the reasons you might think.
Have you noticed how many of us in here seem to be so knowledgeable about this topic and the toys being discussed?
Kudos to RTW for bringing the subject up. The thread has been fun.
My suggestion is to contact a online vendor. Call them and ask them for advice. If they ship there, they will know.
As for the rest of us,,, ain't life grand?

Re: Adult toys onboard
As boats do get boarded and searched for illegal stuff... it becomes a sort of invasion of privacy as it relates to "personal lifestyle" preferences. You simply don't get your house searched for illegal stuff without a warrant or probable cause etc... but entering a country custom officials feel it's their duty to search your boat.
It's hard to imagine why personal sex toys would be illegal to posses or use in private. I suppose if having them on board is important you should verify that possession is not unlawful. Then you should as Mark suggests make no attempt to conceal them. Concealment is a red flag one would think for inspectors.
Frankly I don't think any members here have researched this.

Drive your house across the boarder and that all goes out the window. Now you are importing stuff into the country and they have every right to make sure you aren't smuggling stuff in. Even if it's legal, there may be import taxes.
In most countries, it's mildly embarrassing but otherwise no big deal. Other countries feel differently. It's their country, so they get to make the rules.

Re: Adult toys onboard
Whilst tied up in Alexandria, Egypt for a crew change on a merchant ship, the inspectors came to the vessel and opened every garbage sack we unloaded off the vessel and searched and found the "Girlie Magazines" then stood by the bow of the vessel and looked at every page, then tore them out and threw them in the water, tsk, tsking the whole time, God only knows what would have happened if there had been any "Marital aids" in the bags, they probably would have thought we would burst into flames. Bear in mind in some places these things are highly offensive and if you are somewhere, where the religious rulers and government leaders are the same, you might have some difficulties.

When you cross a boarder every single thing on the boat is subject to inspection, even entering the US which has some of the strongest privacy rights in the world the USSC has said that from the moment you cross the boarder until you have cleared customs and immigration you have zero Constatutional rights. Boarder patrol can do a cavity search of you because they want to legally, administratively they may require more, but all the courts require is that they choose too.
In many parts of the world the sexual freedoms that we assume in the US simply do not exist. As an example, in Jamaica oral sex is still classed as a felony with a 20 year maximum sentence (last time I looked). Now that porno video you have in ships stores in the US is simply adult entertainment, but the moment it crosses into Jamaican waters it may legally be no different than posession of kiddie porn in the US.
This is also likely true all over the Carribean, Africa, the South Pacific, and large swaths of South America.
And keep in mind that in the US all non-vaginal penetrative sexual contact was only legalized in 2003. Before that in many parts of the US oral sex was still classed as a felony.

Re: Adult toys onboard
Help! I fell into the hole of reading this. I don't know why but I did. Now I can't get the image of a person dressed in leather with wrists bound and being strung up by their wrists, using the every turn of the winch and attached rope to induce pain as the person is being inch by inch lifted by their wrists from the boats deck.
Then the captain reaches from behind and swings forward with his black cat of nine tales whip. A flick of the wrist landing the painful strips of leather across the bound victims back.
Now if you video tape this and do a pay for view you could make more than enough to buy a bigger new boat. You could create a totally new genre of adult video. Bringing new definition to the pleasures of sailing.

Re: Adult toys onboard
The good part about BDSM stuff is much of it can be disguised as Other things. Eg ropes shackes etc, Hmm. even a harness (thats got me thinking lol). Cuffs and vanilla toys not so much. But much of the stuff could be distributed around the boat with a view vanilla toys left in a conspicuous place.

I've never wanted to cruise Egypt, or visit there for any other reason, but after that post, it's DEFINITELY off my list !

Re: Adult toys onboard
I think the OP raised a question about whether these toys would be acceptable in South Africa, my quick answer would be "go for it". Adult toy shops are found on every street corner in the bigger cities so I wouldn't see it as a problem. Child porn stuff is a complete no no and would see you arrested and thrown into a not too pleasant environment for a very long time.

Re: Adult toys onboard
I can't help thinking of a fairly well ranked J/24 that was called "Plastic Fantastic" (after the Jefferson Airplane song one assumes) which used to race with a full size "plastic fantastic" mascot strapped to the backstay.

Many Sadly . Sexual control is still being spruked by many religious denominations of many faiths. The legally enforced morality of many nations is why this thread even needs to exist. .
But the Romans, now they had it good. No shame, just pleasure.
