You are probably going to want a dinghy, especially if you plan you anchor out. Even in a marina, it's nice to have to putter around, run to the cofee shop/bar or what ever on the otherside of the creek. Sometimes to just float in the middle of the creek at 2 AM and look at the stars.

If you check around you can find one for less than you can build. I bought a 9' hard dinghy th a sailing rig for $500. I used this for a couple summers, and recently picked up a 9' inflatable for $350. It was from a guy in the marina that used it 1 season, then sold his boat. That is one thing about being in a marina, dock mates are always trying to unload something - one mans trash, anothers treasure. In the past 2 years, I had one friend practically give a water maker away, another a generator, and life raft. Spring is a perfect time as people ae doing spring commisioning.
