a. How does it release water? It all goes up the stack. Yes, it does.

b. You really don't know the unit. Explain what is dangerous, differnt than just running the stove.

I have NOT implied this is a permanent heater for winter liveaboards. I would not leave it unattended or on while I slept, any more than I would a stove. But it is a big improvement above unvented heaters and clay pots.

Something like this will only heat a 22-to 28-foot boat. More than enough for my F-24 on a shoulder season overnight. More than that you need installed heat, as I did on my PDQ 34 (heat and AC).

This. Heating a coil generates 1 watt of heat for every 1 electrical watt provided. A heat pump transfers "COP" watts of heat for every 1 electrical watt provided. Typical values for COP range from 2-4.

The 12 volt heat pump is a longer term solution, as with everything on a yacht, power with wind or solar. Much more efficient and planet friendly than fossil fuels.

To the last sentence, how is that the case? Without a massive solar farm- you’ll need to run some sort of engine to power a heat pump regardless of voltage for any length of time

The trick is to use a generous battery bank, solar panels and wind generator to power them. There is an interesting video online of a 40 foot cruiser (no sails) making it from Seattle to Alaska using only solar, so it is possible, it just takes ingenuity.
