So what day of the month do you end your monthly reporting periods?

Agreed. And, if you make the right choice here you'll solve your cost problems around heating and cooking gas too.

Maybe, what wine do you recommend as a pairing?

Re: 10.5 Month Budget $$

SB, don't let the others get you down. Your out there doing it. That includes sometimes months in a marina. No harm or foul there. If I had lots O money I might be spending $3k too.

Alas I'm about as broke as can be, but still get by. Mind you next year will be spendy with my first haul out in nine years. I'm thinking it's getting time . I luckily spend 1/2 the time in fresh water so the hard growth does not get too crusty.

On the left coast, the super expensive guest slip is $37 a day including electric. I only spent one day there. I was afraid they would kick me out as I did not own topsiders. Most of the marina's out west in the bay and delta are less then that. Many I stay at are $15 a day including electric, wifi, etc. It's actually cheaper then a monthly slip+liveaboard fee+electric. Crazy. I can't see spending $50-$75 a day you guys do on the east coast. Spendy.

I'm seeing big savings. Go the bean path and there will be no costs associated with entertaining guests. At least not twice.

SC, it's well over $100 a day for a 40' boat in S Fl, well over.

sailorboy, I see you were $650 under budget, but I missed the post about what your monthly budget actually was?

let's see the numbers so we can tell you what you're doing wrong as we sit at home only wishing we could do what you're doing.......except for me, as I'm using you and Sailorchic34 to find a balance.

Sailorchic, where did your pics go? Where's your blog?

OUCH!. So I have $15/day guest slips, low humidity and a summer without a hint of rain. Yes there is a reason I stayed in the SF Bay and Delta area.

Though in SF, poor people are defined as folk who make less then $116K/year. Crazy prices on land.

Is ironic how much more expensive San Francisco area is on land and yet less expensive on water. However, that all varies by exact area. We docked at Schoonmaker and it's transient rates were comparable to Florida. Now, as you move closer to the Delta prices do get better.

LOL, I have not docked at schoonermaker, I suspect my boat is tooo small for Schoonermaker. But Clipper Yacht Harbor, at the other end of the channel was the one for $37 a day. Marina Bay in Richmond across the bay charges $15/day for boats 35 feet and smaller. Really it depends. Some delta marina's tend to be pricey too but I avoid those.

Edit: My bo, Marina Bay is 50 cents a foot or $17 for my 34 foot sailboat
