Whitsundays Bare Boat Charter

We are leaving in three(3) days on a bare boat charter in the Whitsundays. I would like to keep you all informed on this experience, however, I do not want to bore anyone. So is there any interest in a daily log with pictures of how this is done and how it is going ?

If there is interest in this, then please tell me what you would like included in the log or exclude for that matter.

I would be interested in your overall cruising experience. We were thinking about chartering up there as well. Let us know what kind of boat you chartered and how the overall service was, etc..

Hi having spent some time there "back in the olden days" I would love to know how crowded (or not) the anchorages are. How many moorings have been put in the various bays that you visit. (This was done to save the fringing coral) There was nothing when I visited. And whether you have any problems picking one up.

Please, please, please keep us posted. I have friends who did a charter there a number of years ago. I have had this on my to do list for a long time.

Day -3 Some simple facts: (prices per couple)

Crew: 6 Adults (When sober)

Itinerary: Fly to Prosopine, Limo to Airle Beach ($43), overnight in hotel ($138), collect boat ($4840) next day, 10 days on the boat ($1471), overnight at Airle Beach ($138), tranfer to Prosopine ($43) and Fly Home.

Boat: Bavarian 50, 4 Cabin layout name "Indulgence"

Provisions: Gold provisioning 6 People 9 days ($684). We are provisioned for 6 days and re -provisioned on day 7, for the remainder of the trip. This is all included in the price and gives the option of supplementing liquid refreshment should we have under catered (see below)

Liquid refrehment: 2L orange juice, 24 Tonic Water, 24 Water, 96 Beer, 48 Wine, 12 Champane and 2 Gin. ($656)

Fun: We have had several practice sailing sessions. Unfortunately we only got to sail once, however, we have had a lot of fun preparing for this trip. So we conlude, that you should not do this on the spur of the moment Plan it over a long period. It extends the fun. If you want more details I can supply the names of the comapnies we used, however, this is not the place to do that.

Day -2 (Two more sleeps)

Very observant Dan. There is only one bottle of gin aboard, we are on the way to get the other now. Some of the crew depart today. A little R&R before the big event.

Today we prepare the computer and camera so that we can communicate with all of you. By the way we expect this to be interactive, so if we miss something just jump all over us.

That last photo looks like the boat is brand new or in excellent condition!! Can you give us/me more shots of the boat?? Tell us also how the overall boat performs in sailing, handling, things breaking, etc.. Very jealous of your trip!!! looks like a lot of fun!! Also, thanks for allowing us to join you and your family/friends on this great trip!!

You might see a 36' Yellow cat that has been slinking about the area for the last month. At present we are at Sawmill Bay & at Hamo tomorrow. Give us a call on the VHF.

That is the inside of our new Jeanneau DS42. We are chartering a Bavarian 50 so we will be able to give you some comparisons.
