Were to rent sailboat in Southeast-Asia

Me and some friends would like to rent sailboat for between 4 and 7 weeks in the area Singapore / Malaysia / Thailand. Renting quite new boats from charter-firms is really, really expensive. Do annyone know about a boat that is held in a shared ownership (were they would like to rent i out for some weeks), a privat person that is renting out hes boat or a firm that do this, that is not so expencive that I could bye a boat for the same price as renting in 6 weeks...
The sailer to be between 28 and 49 feet.

I would be greatefull for all help!

Re: Were to rent sailboat in Southeast-Asia

I am sure you have done some googling but ...

yacht charter asia large selection of bareboat yacht charter, Thailand Phuket

Yacht Charter Thailand - Koh Chang - Koh Samui - Bareboat Charter - Keelboats and Catamarans from 30ft to 52ft

Is a good place to start.

- Thailand will be your best bet in terms of variety of cruising grounds
- Taking a bareboat internationally between the countries you state is probably a non-starter
- There are also private guys renting out their boats - probably unregulated and under the table - I've met some casually - these folks are harder to find.

In terms of "low prices" I don't think you will find any free lunch. Everyone knows what the boat is worth. What makes sense is if you can put 4 paying people together and split the cost.

Like I said they are hard to find. But take the Hanse 31 in the Asia marine fleet - That's like US$250 a day. Divided by 4 people that's like $62 bucks. Cheaper than many hotel rooms.

You also may call them and see if you can get a discount for longer term or certain times of the year.

If you find something please post here.
