TIME ZONE CHANGE MANAGEMENT ON PASSAGE

Hello All,
We are making our return Atlantic crossing (Europe to Americas), departing from La Palma, Canary Islands, later this week.

How do others manage time zone changes while underway? Do you change the ships's clocks when you cross a time zone? Do you do it a certain time of day or night when in the vicinity of a new time zone? Do you set to the destination time when you depart? Etc. (I can't recall how we did it in the U.S. Navy during my several crossings in the Pacific and Indian Oceans. I think we did it at 0100 or 0200.)

Thanks for your thoughtful comments.

As for the US Navy, I seem to recall we usually added hours during the afternoon, so that the work day was longer, and subtracted hours during the evening or mid watch.

Re: TIME ZONE CHANGE MANAGEMENT ON PASSAGE

Changing ships time on passage gets very confusing for the crew. Depending on the length of the passage (east west) we hold the start timezone for the whole passage or make one shift of ships time when sunrise/noon/sunset gets too out of whack with what we perceive. Making one change is good enough for 20 day passage.
