San Diego to Cabo in April?

hi all - I know the primary season to move from CA to the SOC is October or early November, and the Baja Haha sounds like fun. That said, it's looking like we'll need to be heading out later - like between mid Feb and even late April if possible. Or
- What would the Western coast of Baja be like - I know the northers calm by April in the SOC, but ...
- Do any of you know any mast up storage options (w/ lift for a 42' cat) in or near La Paz? It seems we'd be pushing it to sail from Sand Diego all the way to San Carlos or Guaymas before the pure heat sets in....

Many thanks!

Re: San Diego to Cabo in April?

So, you're planning to leave your boat in La Paz for cyclone season? You might check last year's threads about hurricane Newton. You might want to re-consider. I am not personally aware of somewhere there that can haul out a 42 ft. cat, but perhaps such facility exists.

Good luck.

You could leave it in Costa Baja Marina in the water...very protected.

Re: San Diego to Cabo in April?

april was a good departure month when i left.. flew on prefrontal winds to salsipuedes when the wind became calm.
was calm until ensenada where we spontaneously chose to hide due to the well secured ships bell jumping out of its fitting and rolling around on the cockpit sole. that even scaed my cat.
it was a sign...oops...we got into ensenada just in time for the hail storm at midnite.... haha ha
so watch your weather window and go for it.
