Planning a trip to Ocean City MD on a Hunter 31 with a 4' draft. Mast height is 42' from waterline. How navigable is that inlet and are there any good spots to drop anchor? Thanks in advance!

The inlet is usable in pretty much any weather. Nothing to worry about for air draft. There is an anchor to the left off Assateague, you kind of have to feel your way in because the depth shifts but it's mud so not a big deal. A 4' draft will be easily doable for you.

Re: Ocean City, MD

When you are entering the inlet stay clear of the submerged jetty at the opening. Most stay in marinas while there.

The one spot I was always intrigued with as a possible anchorage was in Sinepuxent Bay behind Assateague. It is listed in Waterway Guides as an anchorage, but never stayed there. Would suggest you have good bug screens since you'd be between two marshes. It would be a short dinghy ride to all the action in OC.

If you do anchor there let me know how it worked out.
