Just Back from the Bahamas

We just got back from the Bahamas. Had a great two weeks. We didn't make it to the Abacos due to weather but we did get to Bimini and great Harbor.

We departed Bayfront Park on Saturday Feb 21. We spent the night at Elliot Key Harbor. Sunday morning we headed to Bimini. Seas were great on the way to Bimini. We were there for two days and sailed to Great harbor. The forecast was for 3 to 5 foot seas diminishing to 1 to 3 feet. It ended up increasing to 7 to 9 foot seas during the last few hours of the crossing, with the bow splashing in the swells. On one of the splashes a squid flew out of the water and landed on Trish’s lap and inked her all over the front of her weather gear">foul weather gear. We had a good laugh over that. We spent two days in Great harbor but there was a front forecast for Sunday so we high tailed it back to Bimini on Saturday. Conditions were very good. The front came through on Sunday and we had to wait until Thursday to make the crossing back to Miami. We spent a night at Bayside Marina ($85.00 ouch) and then two more nights at No Name Harbor.

I have pictures on Face Book http://www.facebook.com/p.php?i=1070078986&k=45LYX4P4PV3M5111SA5ZVS if anyone wants to take a look.

Tim

Glad to hear you had a great trip and thanks for sharing the pics.

I've also experienced the Gulf Stream can have a nasty habit of not obeying the weather forecasts at times.
