Re: ICW
Everything is open. We've just proceeded from Norfolk through the Dismal Swamp and now in Belhaven (Dowery Creek Marina) this week. We kept a careful watch for debris, but only found the typical couple of snags and logs in the Alligator River and the Alligator-Pungo Canal. There is a bloom of Duckweed in the Dismal Swamp that may cause raw waterr strainer clogging for some, especially toward the South Mills lock, but the depths are good in the Dismal Swamp.

Re: ICW
There are no closures at this point south on the ICW. I post all Navigation Notices for Marinalife so get updates from a lot of sources every day. There are several bridges in Florida being painted and are on single leaf operations. Plus...
The Marshall Memorial (SW 7th Avenue), the S.E. 3rd Avenue and the Andrews Avenue Bridges, across the New River, Fort Lauderdale, Broward County, Florida will be allowed to remain closed to vessel traffic from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, October 09, 2011 to facilitate the American Cancer Society's "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer" walking event.
The Lake Avenue (Robert Harris) Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway mile 1028.8,will be allowed to remain closed to navigation from: 7:05 a.m. to 10:55 a.m. daily, seven days a week through December, 2011. At all other times the bridge will open on the hour at the top of the hour.
Due to scaffolding, the vertical clearance will be reduced by three feet from July 5, 2011 through December, 2011.
Hope this helps. Chuck

Re: ICW
If you're concerned about the duckweed clogging your raw water strainer in the Dismal Swamp Canal, be aware that many intakes are low enough and in postion not to pick up the floating plants,- not an algae.

We didn't trap any significant amount of the duckweed in our strainer, although we have collected more in the past when we were following another vessel. I expect a vessel ahead would stir up the mix!

Re: ICW
Most recent report on the chickweed in the Dismal Swamp is that it has decreased considerably. Chuck
