Re: Help Finding Young Sailing Blogs

Just found this thread on a rainy morning, sitting at anchor in Solomons Island, MD, in the first week of actual movement on our adventure. What a fabulous resource it is; I wish I had found these years ago!

Our blog is Picaroon Blog | BETTER DROWNED THAN DUFFERS IF NOT DUFFERS WONT DROWN.

We started with a dream – one day we would retire from the rat race and sail around the world on a sailboat. While we prepared, we documented the adventures of our first boat, the 26-foot sloop Picaroon, on the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries. Then we chronicled the travails of preparing our new boat, which had been abandoned for 5 years in the Mexican desert, for cruising. Now we're chronicling engine overheating. Oh, and sailing adventures, too.

Where are you in Grenada?

I'm in Prickley bay if you are heading this way.

And Croc Bones Crew, too, if you get out of St L

Here are my favorites so far:
Hobo Sailor - Young couple sailing up the east coast.
Adventures of the Sailing Vessel SohCahToa - 3 younger guys circumnavigating
Sailing Blog - AfterBlue Sailaway - Young people sailing Bahamas & Cuba
Cruising the Great Lakes and Bahamas - Guy cruising great lakes & Bahamas.
If you know of any other good suggestion to keep me entertained until I get my turn please let me know!!
While I aint's as young as I use to be, I do has a Sailing Blog that I periodically updates that you mights wants to takes a gander at... and it's a loaded with lots of insightful bullsh*t... some of which is marginally evens related to sailing. Do however reads at your owns peril though.

Re: Help Finding Young Sailing Blogs

We're... youngish? Late 30's and 41... We FEEL young, does that count? (We're definitely the youngest among our sailing friends.)
Feel free to check out our blog: S.V. Nyon
Check these people out:
SV Estrellita 5.10b
Windtraveler

I also like reading The Slapdash | No Fixed Address etc etc

There are more blogs by young sailors than I originally thought.
It is different to choose this life when you're in the middle of careers, or just starting out, isn't it!

Cheers, K

Sailing is sailing, young or old. You'll find the party spots no matter who's blog you follow. Most of the older one will show you how to get there safer and faster. And which beers to drink and which to sink.

Yeah but the younger bloggers provide more eye candy.

That's the easy stuff. Getting there is more than half the fun.

I don't know if this counts but we have our two boys sailing and living aboard with us. (18 and 16).
If you want to read an alternative sailing blog which will hopefully keep you amused for a while then please drop on our website.

Didnt see S/V Honeymoon in the list. Big time video bloggers, but what a fantastic documentation of their travels they made. They also did the ARC rally as beginners and had a great time.

I'm 26 and maintain a blog (as best as I can) documenting my adventures, misadventures, maintenance, upgrades etc at MischiefAfoot.blogspot.com. Currently hauled out for some repairs, maintenance and refitting while attending school in beautiful St. Petersburg, FL.

We aren't in our twenties, but you might find inspiration on our blog... lots of colorful stories and pics: A Full-time RV Blog & Sailing Blog: adventure, tips and inspiration!

A twenty-something single-hander who we met in Chiapas, Mexico and whose blog I've enjoyed is: Sail Panache | Strutting across the Pacific Ocean
