Fun in Force. Biscay Crossing December

I had a chuckle making this Gangnam style clip in a blow across Biscay last month. Enjoy!

As long as you're nimble enough not to trip on your own tether and leave a few teeth in the binnacle, it looks like great fun. Tell us about the boat...she looks like a beauty.

I'm guessing the gale was about 30 knots? It looks nicely developed.

Re: Fun in Force. Biscay Crossing December

Thanks. It was hard enough standing up, never mind jigging about! The weather was about F6 during the clip, which strengthened to F9 in the night. I feared for the mizzen mast at one point, but the old girl is as tough as nails and pulled through. She was originally a Danish fishing boat, a 'Hajkotter' working the North Sea, built 1924.
As for old school; them that built these craft had the chance to improve each hull from the last, something that's missing in pop out moulded boats these days... Apart from when the coamings were submerged, hardly a drop of water came on deck, beating into a gale at that!
Course, the varnished suffered, but we'll gloss over that (ahah)
