Re: Florida Keys to Turks and Caicos

Hello All, This is good information as I have also thought of this trip. Please forgive my Newbieness here but I am not sure I know what the Old Bahama Chanel is? Would this be north of BErry Island and Russel Island and working your way down the coast to Cat Island and so on? Or is it the path between the Bahamas and Nassau and down that way?

Re: Florida Keys to Turks and Caicos

The Old Bahama Channel is the ± 15 nm wide deep-water passage between the island of Cuba, to the South, and the Great Bahamas Bank, to the North.

Re: Florida Keys to Turks and Caicos

Just an addendum to this thread. International treaty, honored by Bahamas, allows "innocent passage"...basically continuous (w anchoring) passing through...no fishing, no trouble making, no going ashore unless emergency without paying for a cruising permit. Stopping because of emergency would not make you liable to pay cruising fee.
