Anyone gone from Port Lucaya directly to Northwest Channel?

Hi, I am planning on going to Exumas next June (13) departing from Palm Beach. We are two boats, a 30' cat and a Catalina 30. We have crossed before to Abacos, and like going into West End and dip into the swiming pool with a Bahama Mama in hand, cooling down the first cruising day. We were thinking of keeping this venerable tradition, but I'm concerned about the following day, where we plan to sail SE, across the Providence Channel and into the Great Bank, East of Mackie Shoal, straight into the route to Northwest Channel. We plan to anchor out in the night once we find 10 feet of water. My concern is that this route is not marked, and the chart looks fine, but... Has anyone done it?? Why is it so unexplored?? Maybe the Bahama Mama has to wait?? Help please...
