I think you may find that the underwriters for Edward William (Northern Fleet) are back in business.

However, it seems to many that insurance is a bit of a joke at our expense. I would be interested to find the average % long term profit margin for marine insurance.
The insurance companies also have your money and one would expect that they would carefully invest that so they should accrue more than the totality of the premiums so that clients are well protected. I am not holding my breath.

Re: Who should I get Insurance quotes from?

Paul,
Stay away from Progressive, even if they will cover your boat/area of travel. I found the insurance companies offered by towing companies (e.g. Seatow/New Hampshire Ins.) are expensive. I just insured my Silverton 352 for the Chesapeake through TC Irons Agency in Burlington, New Jersey(609-387-0606). Great rates and exactly the full value coverage I needed. The owner is Tim Irons, who is an off shore (Gulf Stream for tuna, etc.) fishing nut who knows all the good companies. Hope this helps.
