Try to Chartering in the Philippines

Hi,

Just want to share if it's a good idea.

We have a Gulet more than 28 meter long.
Have 6 double cabins with own shower and toilets
Have a big salon and cabins for captain and crews.

The vessel right now is ⚓ in Corfu Greece,
I told to my husband before we decide to Sale her and keep the money to buy again, when he is retire. Better we try to look for a co ownership or investor to bring the MSY-motor sailing yacht
In my home country Philippines. Right now there is nothing like that style,who doing Chartering business in the Philippines. I believe this will work and he can live on Board as a captain. He has a license.

I love Philippines. So many beautiful islands and it's my dream one day to see them. That is why I think this idea before we decided to Sale her. Maybe I can find a right person who has a same idea like me. We have already a vessel but not enough money to maintain her and bring her in Asia. Here is the foto of her.

Conditions in the Atlantic and Pacific can get much rougher than what the Mediterranean generally offers. Long passages with no ports to take refuge in mean having to tie down all the furniture and stow all the accessories, knick-knacks and glassware. (Is the stove on gimbals?) Sailing a Gulet to the Philippines could be dangerous for the boat and crew; they are not usually built to withstand such a voyage.

I'm not saying you're wrong in general, but wouldn't a passage from Greece to the Philippines normally be via Red Sea and the Indian Ocean?

Good point if you think the Red Sea is safe enough to try transiting now. Haven't heard much about piracy there lately, or in Malaysia, but that would be a consideration for a family heading that way. Conditions could present quite a challenge for a Gulet going either route.

One question related to this thread is the draft of the ship.
I haven't seen many deep draft ships in the Philippines, mostly local trimaran or catamaran. I wonder if this has a relation with the grounds when approaching the islands or beaches, perhaps the corals are shallow and only trimarans will reach close to shore?
Anyone knows about this in particular in the Philippines?
