Teaching Sailing in Panama

What credential are required in Panama (Bocas Del Toro) to teach sailing on your own vessel? I am contemplating buying 30-35 sailboat and supplement my income with providing sailing lessons.

You need to register with Panama tax office for this. Register as a sole trader. Easy for nationals, less so for foreigners.


The boat must meet Panamian safety standards for commercial craft. Which are not very harsh actually.


Gathered from a friend who used to run day trips in Panama (Blas). (info from about 2015-2018, things may have changed).
