Repair workshop on a boat

Goodday to all you old salties. I have a plan to buy a reasonable steel boat and build a workshop onboard. Engineering,welding and mechanical is my main strong points.
Have heard about trouble with working in marinas to earn a living because of work permits and such. Want to finde out from you guys out there what your opinion is about the viability of the idea. And what sort of prices you pay to have work done. Labour rates and so on. I plan to focus on yacht related and secondly comercial boat. And then consider shore based work and merina maintenance.

I know I guy that did this. Had an impressive workshop on a 56’ boat. Ended up hauling aid packages to Haiti instead mostly. He’s currently running a marine business unrelated to fabrication. Overall, you’re likely to make some good beer money maybe a bit more unless you spend a lot of time in a an area. And unless in somewhere very third world, you’ll be getting hassled about work permits eventually. And in third world you’ll be competing against very low local wages
