The mere effect of changing
registration does not in itself alter the " tax " status of the boat.
If the boat was
sold outside the EU then that will cause a loss of vat status.
As a non EU tax resident you will be entitled to 18 months vat free period anyway.
Once you retain evidence of the boats original vat status, it's very difficult for any
customs official to claim otherwise
