newbie to liveaboard in Spain - prices, experiences

Hi there,

I'm considering buying 32ft sail cruiser from 1965 in UK. I live in Malaga in Spain so I would like to move the boat here and live aboard.

Does anyone here have some experiences with living aboard in Spain in general? Particulary I'm interested in the prices and expenses, since it is quite hard to find some relevant information about prices.

I would prefer a marina located close to any bigger city, such as malaga, alicante, valencia etc. I don't want to be separated completely from social life

Is it possible to find a berth for about 500E/month? My idea is to stay half a year and then more on.

Any recommendations and experiences will be much appreciated.

Tomas

Current prices I cannot help with but the general plan you have is fine.. I based myself out of Agua Dulce near Almeria in the mid-late 90's... the summers were spent cruising and anchoring along Spain and the Balearics then end of Sept head back S and lay up for the winter.. come March cast off the lines and head for sea..
500euro/mth should find you a berth with change... winter in Almerimar and it'll be even cheaper..
If you like golf you'll love it..

Arecuk, and if you need a hand in getting the boat to Spain you might talk to Boatman 61, from what all is said about him is seems to an OK boat hand...... maybe a little gruff and snarkly at times. That can be overcome with a nice bottle of wine or maybe some rum> LOL

thanks for your information boatman

anyway, I am not sure if 500E/month is really sufficient ... I was looking at marinas in UK and there it is enough, but Ive heared that mediterranean coast is more expensive

Re: newbie to liveaboard in Spain - prices, experiences

at the end I found some prices for a berth in spanish marinas
- 32ft sailing boat, aprox monthly price 2013, quite often discounts when you stay 3 or 6 months, up to 50%

aguadulce - 300E
sevilla gelves - 300E
sevilla club nautica - 235E
malaga club candado - 280-400E

thus, 500E should be enough I guess

and here is nice list of spanich marinas:

Ask how much 1 night in Poole would cost for a Lagoon 380 Cat... I paid 15euro/nite 2 weeks ago for her in Almerimar.. what one hears and what is are often different things.. it would have cost me 250euro in Ibiza Town..
Also most marina's give up to 20% discount if you pay 6 months in advance so that's your summer and your winter.. the summer months are hellacious expensive but the price drops dramatically in winter.. for example the 3months high season will cost you near as much as the remaining 9 months of the year...
But... choose your source to believe..

NEW FREE APP WITH MAIN TIPS OF MALAGA, NO NEED INTERNET CONEXTION

Good morning everyone, introduce myself, since I am new to this forum.
My name is John, I'm from Málaga, my main hobby is traveling and meeting new people. I currently have relationship with many foreigners who come to spend a vacation to Malaga and I've noticed that most of them come without basic information on what to do, visit, shop or see in my city, I began to investigate and I found a application very useful and easy to use mobile for Malaga most importantly if you have little time for it. I have personally tried the guide like a tourist that comes to town, also tried with a foreigner and I can say that it is extremely easy and above all you do not need to have internet connection, so that everyone can use at no cost.
The name of this new app is Malagatips, and you can get it for both android and for Apple mobiles. Check it and tell me.
