Hi Ali, another really good book is "A World of my own" by Robin knox Johnson. It is his story of the first solo round the worldrace, which he won. Hope you have a great holiday.
Yeah, great book. Prehaps a bit heavy for a starter book. I found 'voyage for madmen' a good primer on the golden globe race. I think all the Bernard Mottesier books are excellant. Very well written.
One of the best older books is Johnny Wrays 'South Sea Vagabond' written in a different era but very funny and easy to read, unlike many of the pre war books. Of course I could always put in a plug for my fathers book 'Snow Petrel' about our trip south to Antarctica.
Yes! Exactly my intention, I shall be getting as much in as I can before this club starts then simply get a topper or wayfarer might be better then sail on my days off. Also will try and give my body and soul away to crews as an extra hand I think. Get on the water as much as possible.
