Okay-- so after ten years of chartering every kind of twin screw in the 40-60' range we have decided to buy in the next year or so. We'll get a 57 Marlow about 3-6 years old and will keep it in a marina on the west vast of
Florida. I have heard all about the ten-percent-of-cost
rule and am struggling to get to $100k per year just to keep a pre-owned $1.3M yacht in ship shape. I have my arms around
insurance,
financing, marina
fees,
fuel, etc. My question is more on what does it cost to just maintain, in Bristol condition, such a vessel if
it is in the marina six months per year and cruising the other six months?
Also, if I want to hire a
captain to watch the
boat while out of town I suppose it is a negotiation to find one to do daily
maintenance or just observe and call a
mechanic for the
oil changes, etc.
Anyone have any experience to share?
Thanks a bunch!
