Communicating with Brokers and Marinas

Hi everybody,
We would very much appreciate some advice.

We are going to buy either late this year or very early 2014. We would like to purchase in the Med, sail around the area for quite a while, then across the Atlantic , Pacific and eventually home to Australia.

Our problem is getting anybody to communicate via email with us. We sometimes get a one off response to a boat we may be enquiring of, then nothing. Sometimes we don't even get any answer. The same happens when we email Marinas. Are we doing something wrong. It is a little expensive to be phoning from here and the time delay makes it difficult also. Obviously we realise that at some stage we need to verbal somebody but surely email enquiries should be ok in the initial stages.

Any clues fellow sailors.

Set up Skype and use that to phone, long calls are really cheap that way.
