Most people who own a dock on the water, it's a feature of the real estate they own, often their home.

Is that what you mean?

Otherwise, others pay rent to a marina for their slip.

I think you need to be more clear, and specific about your wants & needs in order to get helpful suggestions.

Gig Harbor has a condo slip marina. It's at the south west end of the harbor. Prices were a bit steep when I looked into it a few years back.

Skyline Marina in Anacortes.

We purchased our home on Whidbey Island.
Dock in the back yard.

Thank you. I love to travel and live in a house for me as if in a prison. I need a small spaceship that will surf the universe.

As others have commented, there are several developments in NW Washington which include condo'ed mooring slips which can be purchased. Prices are generally pretty steep, however, and they still include a substantial maintenance fee. If traveling is your desire, wouldn't you be better off leasing a slip for a while, rather than purchasing one?

I don't remember the name but there is at least one, if not more, marinas near the airport that slips are privately owned. Be careful because that means you are responsible for the dredging and while you may not need it, your neighbors might and therefore you get to pay part of the bill and dredging is expensive. Very expensive.

Slips come up for sale in Skyline Marina west of Anacortes. They ain't cheap. Not sure if some of the small places in La Conner sell or not. The marina in Shelter Bay La Conner may sell slips...? You may be able to check slips for sale on line.
Also the Sandy Point area North of Bellingham has protected waterways and private slips. Unsure about sales.

My questions are
1) do you want a permanent slip?
2) are you intending on staying in the marina for ever?
3) are you just looking for winter moorage ?

There is a Real Estate Broker in Anacortes that lists and sells slips. I can't remember his name but he has an office in Skyline and I think works for Windermere. Try Google but they ain't cheap. Do you really want to buy before you check out things here? How about Ganges on Salt Spring Island, BC. Nice, Nice, Nice and cheaper also to rent. I would go there.

Or Telegraph Harbor on Thetis Island. An especially good value in the winter.

Re: Buy Parking Space for Your Boat - Washington State

Semiahmoo in Blaine has slips for sale, usually $20-40k.
There is a small condo dock south of the ferry in Friday Harbor where the slips are in the same price range.
I don't think most condo slips allow liveaboard, but I could be wrong.
If you were living on the boat full time and not tied to a job or location, I don't think I would buy a slip when you can spend far less renting shorter term and anchoring out.
A lot of marinas let you sub-lease for a few months, or some fixed period of time.
As mentioned a lot of marinas on Vancouver Island are deals. I had my boat in Cowichan Bay for $125 a month where I pay over $200 in LaConner and Everett. Cowichan Bay doesn't have a lot, but it does have bus service to Duncan, Mill Bay and Victoria.
Shilshole in Seattle has long waitlists, but often you can find sublets. I also sublet at a condo marina in Lake Washington, but I had an apartment nearby at the time, so I didn't ask about living aboard, but I think the owner may have before he bought a house and moved his boat there.
