Who's been swimming already?

Not me!

But my daughter always makes it a goal to get fully submerged by end of May.

I'm waiting for summer to arrive. Somebody said it was June already, but I'm not buying it.

18C in Georgian Bay?! You must have been in a shallow spot!

Re: Who's been swimming already?

Friends of ours have been swimming since early May in the St. Lawrence.

Quick dip then a longer dip in the hot tub.

West Coast of B.C for over a month now! Some days are chilly depending on tides and wind.

Went overboard while anchored in the Admiralties (St Lawrence River) near Beau Rivage Island last weekend. Bloody cold. Wasn't in long. very refreshing though.

Re: Who's been swimming already?

What do you folks consider a comfortable swimming temp up there? For me, I like it north of 73F. We usually hit that about mid May and stay there well into November.

Re: Who's been swimming already?

At 1300 EDT today the Lake Ontario Water temperature at the Ajax Weather Bouy (just east of Toronto) was 6 degrees C, air temperature 10 degrees C (that's 43F and 50F). I don't intend to go swimming.

Don't know about "up there", but personally, I stay out of water if it is below 25°C (77°F)

Re: Who's been swimming already?

Used to love the 70 degree water when I lived in the NE. Now in the SW I have to live with year round 83 degree Crystal clear pool. Bummer EH! Although that mountain runoff does get the lake to 70 and pleasant. 90 here today and swimming all morning... Stay cool...
