Looking for a boat, still....

Hello all, I am in the hunt for a boat to cruise the great lakes with and a fair amount of single handed sailing. I have looked at the catalina 30, the c & c 32, going to look at a Tartan 33R. All of these boats have been 80's generation 15 - 30K.
Any one know anything about the 1989 Erickson 28.2 ?
Or if any of you have a boat for sale, know one who has one they are trying to move, please let me know.
I was really leaning towards the 32' C & C but it had a rotted mast step and some other issues. I can deal with a few systems needing attention but stuctural integrity is of the up most importance.
Thanks in advance.

Get the one in the best shape, or wait for one in better shape.

Doesn't matter which.

Take your time, the search is part of the fun, Arsydian. You did fine, mooshy mast steps are nasty to fix.

Like was said above, find the one in the size range that is in the best nick. Good luck with the search--our last search took us over 3 yrs., but being nit picky paid off, finally.

Food for thought, unless you find a boat with an autopilot already installed, I might consider something with a tiller or space for a wheel drive AP if you’re planning to participate in the GLSS’s challenges. I’d like to participate in next year’s Chicago-Mackinaw challenge but have to decide whether it’s worth it to drop around ten boat bucks on a below deck autopilot to meet that requisite. I think the above deck versions are a bit more affordable. Good luck!
