How to See Niagra Falls, Passing Through Buffalo

Hey we're finishing up our cruise on Lake Erie and getting into Buffalo soon. We'd like to see Niagara Falls before heading down the Erie Canal, does anyone know of good tours or transportation to get there?

A lot of people do the Maid of the Mist boat tour which puts you in the water at the base of the falls. It's supposed to be quite good. Here's a link...

I checked them out, it looks great, thanks! Know of a good way to get from Buffalo to Niagara? We try to use public transport when possible.

Try this. Apparently the view from the Canadian side is better. (There's probably a joke here but I don't want to get into trouble with the mods if I were to say, for example, that everything looks better north of the border.)

Greyhound Bus to Niagara Falls

Have fun and enjoy the visit.

Cheers!

Most hotels have tour buses that pick up people several times a day, a few calls should get you set up. You can walk over the Rainbow bridge to Canada if the tour doesn't go over.

BRING YOUR PASSPORT if you cross to the Canadian side. Otherwise you are in for a world of bureaucratic hassles when you try to come back.

The NFTA bus route 40 picks up in a few places around the city and drops you right at the falls about an hour later. We got on a stop just a few blocks past the Buffalo Yacht club by the National Guard Armory. It was a great way to go and much cheaper than renting a car, paying for parking, gas, etc. $1.75 each...pretty good! The view is way better on the Canadian side, but the boat tours from the American side have shorter lines, fewer crowds, and is even a bit cheaper. Walking X the bridge is easy and yes, you need passports, but it's worth it! I highly suggest it for other cruisers passing through buffalo.
