Re: American invasion of Canada rehearsal
Ok, in an attempt to divert this from the healthcare rabbit hole debate, did everyone see the news about our immigration website crashed as Trump was being declared the winner:
Canada’s immigration website restored after crashing amid U.S. election results
Fun when a joke becomes reality.

For all of you Canadians who graciously offered to give refuge to our refuse, no changing your minds now!
Have fun with all of those art history majors and Poli-Sci majors! Hope you guys need more baristas! You can take all of the crying snowflakes protesting out in the streets too, apparently they didn't get their participation trophies this time!
LMAO!

Not to mention the Insurance Companies. Everyone always bashes the health care providers and blame them for cost. I can tell you for sure, the insurance companies are dictating care and the providers go broke many times. The HMO era took many doctors out of private practice . As long as the insurance companies lobby the politicians, nothing will every change. I talked to my doctor, she doesn't accept Obama Care . Her office manager indicates it pays $30.00 a visit. They cannot keep the doors open with this rate. When I asked what happens to the patients, indication is they go to ER room. Obama care was to solve ER problem, hospitals going broke, solved nothing !
If you don't think I understand, please realize that I managed medical private practice and had a Billing Management Company for 15 years.
Rant Over !

Sure! We like people who can understand that "those who do not know history's mistakes are doomed to repeat them,” or who can make sense of current political events.
But for all you future Canadian baristas, here’s a good study guide: How to be a Canadian
Or for something more serious: Canadians & Americans: How different are we?

Re: American invasion of Canada rehearsal
hmmm... All you ex-"Health Industry" people know very well that suppressing the symptoms (insurance companies, lawyers et al) doesn't cure the disease.
Maybe we all need to pull together and do some serious revising of the Received Wisdom. Step one might be that we all acknowledge that Truth is the First Casualty of Conflict!

So TRUE!
I've had healthcare clients and I believe the paperwork, inefficiency, and squabbling about who is going to pay leads to administrative expense 2X the cost of actually delivering the care.

No one can afford to pay cash in US, too expensive. Physical therapy in Mexico without insurance is less than my co-Pay for a full hour.

In case nobody looked outside, it's getting cold and nobody is invading Canada for the next six months. We'll swing by around June.

Re: American invasion of Canada rehearsal
All of my Canadian relatives have now completed their anual winter migration to the southern US states, mostly to California, Texas and Arizona. I wonder why?
I was surprised to find out all of them were Trump supporters while they watched the election.

All of us like warm weather so traveling south is a natural. USA politics is entertainment for us, kinda like a big reality show but if you actually found a nest of Trump supporters that are real Canadians it's akin to the needle in the haystack, pretty rare in Canada.

Oh I don't know. You should visit Alberta sometime.
As for Americans, I think Refuge Cove in Desolation Sound is still full of draft dodgers and it's one of my favorite places to visit. So maybe it'll all work out...

I was born and raised in central Alberta and lived there for 40 years so I know the country and the people. You may know that they recently voted in an NDP government, something I would have thought impossible but even Albertans get tired of feeling screwed over. Alberta is generally conservative country, especially rural areas but they would never have voted for someone with racist and sexist views as well as simple answers to complex problems. That said we all are wishing our American friends a good future and happiness. You may already know that Canadians have more in common north and south than they do east and west. In other words Alberta feels a natural connection to Americans in Montana, not so much with Quebec.
