Re: 1000 islands 2021 water too low?

When in doubt follow someone else. Always a good rule in thousand islands. There are rocks with lots of water and docks with none. Get to one island and find someone who’s going to another island and follow them.

Gosh, I’m so glad nobody revealed the anchorage north of Endimyion.

There an Anchorage south of Georgina, past Rabbit. Better have cajones to get in there, but once there it’s quiet and uncrowded.

Most islands have deep water docks, but the anchorages are where its at. Either way, you have to time it for the arrival. 10am they are empty, 11am no space. If you don’t know the shortcuts plan accordingly.

Some anchorages have good water with deep water approaches, like Thartway/Leek. Other areas like the Lakefleet group are ok with sticking with the channels; this year may not be the best for experimentation.

As I said, get to an island. Ask who’s going where and knows where it’s safe. Follow them.

Re: 1000 islands 2021 water too low?

We did an overnight sail Coburg to Amherst Island near Kingston about four weeks ago. It was flat with light winds so we were only going 3-4 knots but it was a great experience! Took us 26 hours with some zig zags against the wind.

I shared my notes on this experience here:

Spent time in Thousand Islands and didn't have any issues with depth. We draw 5 feet in a CS34.

On way back went through Murray Canal two weeks ago. As others have said it's weedy near Trenton and near exit of Murray Canal on West side. But it was much better than it was at the beginning of the season. Got caught up a few times in weeds in June.
