It’s a 4JHE, the (B) designates I believe a slightly different shaft angle from the transmission. The shaft in my IP is nearly level with almost no drop.
It’s the engine I have, and there were a great many built apparently.
44 HP at 3600 RPM for one hour I think 40 HP at 3500 continuous.

I have the 4jh2-ute which is a 75hp engine. I believe it is the same engine however mine has a turbo on it(someone can correct me if I'm wrong).

Runs great, no major qualms with mine. Mine is a V drive, which I am not a huge fan of, but it has no issues. My boat is a 42ft 16ton sailboat. Currently with no anchor chain/anchor on the bow, at about 2200RPM's and no current I can comfortably cruise at 7-8kn. Anything above that RPM my stern just digs in way too much and I dont gain that much more speed vs burn rate.

Shall be interesting to see the change of speed when loaded with my new windlass/anchor/chain.

Thanks, that info tracks with what I am seeing on the engine plate. It states 44 hp. @ 3600 and the shaft angle is almost straight with the crankshaft. My mechanic is having problems finding replacement injectors so any more info helps.

Which begs the question why "a64pilot?

YANMAR 4JHBE 44HP ENGINE WITH TRANSMISSION LOW HRS

I was an AH-64 pilot for a long time. 87 to 03.
When we got back from Germany in 95 I think it was AH-64 Pilot was taken on AOL, but a64pilot was not.

The Diesel shop in Albany Ga which does no work on sailboat motors, just farm equipment etc., had no problem at all overhauling my injectors, I had two bad tips, but had them all replaced.
Injectors are most often used on many different motors, just maybe with different cracking pressures and maybe tips etc.,
They shouldn’t be hard to find, call Mack Boring or other good dealer.
Plus they should be able to tell you everything about a 4JH(B)E.
Old motor, but I think many were made and I believe parts are still available.

Why do you want replacement ones? Overhaul is usually cheaper and just as good.

I do not wish to replace the engine, just trying to get information and a source of spare parts. Google has been next to useless as far as information is concern, even the designation of the engine. Th plate on the engine says it is model 4JHBE not 4JH(B)E. All very confusing

YANMAR 4JHBE 44HP ENGINE WITH TRANSMISSION LOW HRS

I’m 99% sure the difference in the “B” engine and the regular 4JHE is the transmission, I don’t believe there is any other difference.
However as I said, call a good reputable Yanmar dealer and ask to speak to a service technician, they can confirm or deny this.

By replacement I meant injectors, you size your mechanic was having trouble sourcing replacements, I’d have the existing ones cleaned, tested and overhauled as necessary as opposed to replacing.

Re: YANMAR 4JHBE 44HP ENGINE WITH TRANSMISSION LOW HRS

greetings I am interested in your yanmar 4JHBE 44hp with transmission. we are replacing our 85 Lehman SP90 and wonder if the newer yanmar with less horsepower will be sufficient to carry our 43ft 26000lb cutter rig.
Based on our research it appears Brewer like other mfgs in the day installed the biggest hp they could muster for the price. for example the newer Beta 50 is rated equivalent to the Lehman 90.

great forum...we would appreciate getting feedback from you all. thanks in advance
