I removed this early 90s
Yanmar from my
boat today. I was going to
rebuild but even the cost of peripheral
rebuild and repaint was approaching a new Beta.
This
engine was installed in a
boat I purchased last
winter. I had the
engine surveyed and an
oil analysis performed. It ran very well all summer over 100 hours or more. Starts immediately. Cruises happily and quietly at 2200
rpm. However, the turbo is a little stiff, the
transmission appears to slip a little going into reverse, and there is more than normal smoking at startup (I think due to the stiff turbo). The mounts are also toasted.
So... I'm moving on. But this is a great engine for sometime with the time and skills.
