Looks like the island of Pico in the picture.
you could find worse places to retire to,nice climate, good food, cheap booze, lots of history.
though i suspect building a house on a bit of land would not be that cheap.
its a fairly easy sail direct from CT or via cape verdes with a bit of motorsailing.

generally you want to leave by april which might pose a problem if the boat needs a refit first.you would also want paying up front for any repairs and expenses to get the boat ready, and a deposit in lieu of the land transfer should the op renage on arrival.

meme grant is on my face book friends list if you want to send her a message to check out the issues involved with living in the azores

Correct me if I am wrong but Portugal just as Spain is a red-tape country when it comes to skipper licensing. I am not sure if someone settling there won't need to take exams/courses to sail his own boat.

Is it possible this guy is just trolling out of boredom? Seems so far out in left field to be even plausible. Maybe I'm just old.

I am a Brit living in Portugal for 10yrs now.. no problems with my 1980's Coastal Skipper ticket.. updated every 5yrs.
One could even get it converted for Portuguese commercial purposes if one wished.
Evidence of training and school is a must though.. an ICC freebe wont cut it.
Atoll.. know the Azores well and have friends there.. including a couple of HM's.. but thanks for the offer.

Pictures show the boat moored in Hout Bay, the part of Cape Town I live in. I might take a wander down to the marina tomorrow to look at it....

So, the OP seems to be both a real estate salesman and a yacht salesman... why wouldn't you trust him???

Hi thanks for comments

Yes , ferro
But one the good constructed ones. Only ways about 4 tons . Was very fast its day and broke some records for 24 hours runs...Also has a solid Aluminium rig with new 12 mm stays. Yes motor only gets up to 5 knots...buts is a sail boat!
