If you're ditching it because of difficulty in finding leathers for the pump, Jim had an engineering shop make up a plastic disc that accepted a largeish diameter O-ring (~1/4"), for our old W-C, and it worked thereafter, just fine. We also bought about 10 of the O-rings, but never had to change it.

Also, perhaps the bronze can be re-cycled. Ours was painted white, but someone we knew, sand-blasted it and clear polyurethaned it, was really fancy!
