Wanted Hydrovane

Wanted newer model Hydrovane. I'm in Australia but boat is in Nova Scotia and is 10 tonnes 42ft. Plan to leave NS next June 2023. Please contact if you no longer need yours. I'll talk to it nicely. Thanks John

Not most Hydrovane users' experience. Possibly you haven't balanced sails and rudder (see other thread).

Agree - if a Hydrovane isn't working properly, the boat is not set up correctly.

Ours steers perfectly as long as the wind is blowing. We found that it steered better than we could in 40+ knots of wind. But in super light conditions where the boat is making less than about 1 kt, it may wander a bit.

Re: Wanted Hydrovane

I had one on Snake Oil which was a Farr 43 with a huge rig and found the Hydrovane steered it. But there's a learning curve. It teaches you to balance the boat. Some adjustments are needed now and then if conditions change. Light downwind was not so easy. Sounds like yours might be cheap??
