Vertue Sailing books

We have retired and are downsizing. So, Selling my collection of Vertue sailing books. These are the four books that Vertue owners have written over the years describing their more or less epic single and double handed voyages in Laurent Giles designed 25’ LOA Vertue class sailboats.

Humphrey Barton’s “Vertue XXXV” is the story of the first ever Atlantic crossing by a small yacht, in 1951. Previously, it was thought small yachts could never accomplish such a long distance voyage. This crossing is widely credited with opening the door for long distance, short handed cruising, as we know it today.

Peter Woolas’ books”Vertue” is signed by the author and is a description and history of the Vertue Class, design, and history. Out of print, and rare.

“The Ship That Would Not Travel Due West” is David Lewis’ 1960 account of his third place Ostar finish - first ever single handed trans Atlantic race, and his singlehanded return to England one week after arriving in New York.

“My Old Man and The Sea” is Dan Hayes’ account of sailing around Cape Horn with his Dad in a FG Vertue Mk II.

I’ve collected these four books independently over the years. Now it’s time to pass along to a new owner. All are used, in very good condition.

Each is an epic voyage, and a great read!

(would make a great Christmas present.)

$225 for the lot, + shipping. (Price based on current used book prices)

Thanks much,

Glenn
