Temporary slip in Ft. Lauderdale area

We are looking for a slip to keep our Lagoon 450 in for about 3 months starting around 11/1 while we do some repairs before heading out to the Caribbean.

Hard to find a residential dock with enough “beam” for a cat in Fort Lauderdale.
45’ monohull with 15’ beam, no problem.
I have placed 2 cats on residential docks the last 6 months, on the New River, but lots of begging and bribes involved.

I recommend you move north to Ft Pierce or Port Canaveral.

Plus, don't most of them in Ft Lauderdale prohibit live aboard?

Cat or Mono?
Beam is usually the problem, then draft, length is third.

Now that the Boat Show is coming up in a few days, all slips and docks are taken: All the boats at the biggest marina in town are being kicked out for the next 3 weeks.
Current prices at private docks are $3 per foot, per day.

Yeah, liveaboards and residential docks don’t mix as there are pump-out facilities lacking. City ordinance prohibits renting your dock AND living aboard.
The first is being ignored, the second one not. Can’t do, although deep in the rule book it says the owners can stay on the boat the day before a trip and the day after, not to exceed 10 days in a year and never in a row, or some such thing.

Re: Temporary slip in Ft. Lauderdale area

Only the Las Olas marina is will work for your purpose, and it's among the most expensive on the east coast. They tend to have slips your size available, though. But not until after the upcoming boat show ... the Hollywood marina would work, but they never (or so it seems) have a slip that will fit your boat.

There are a great many docks behind homes here in Fort Lauderdale, to include many that will fit your boat. But all of them forbid living aboard or even staying aboard overnight. Additionally, they also forbid major boat maintenance. Leases are month-to-month and they will evict you for almost any annoyance.

Re: Temporary slip in Ft. Lauderdale area

Isle of Venice, Hendricks isle, and NE 20th Avenue are options for live aboard. Generally one must cruise up and down calling numbers on for rent signs. Inventory is tight as the old properties on the isles are being knocked down and replaced with million dollar condos, which 86 the live aboard slips.

We are monhull. Hoping by Nov 20th all the displaced boats get back to their regular slips and canal docks available again. I feel for the cat's and how difficult it is for them to find space.

We gave up on Florida. We have found a new home in South Carolina. Thanks!
