Stoboom (never used) in boom furler, Barlow self Tailing winches

I recently bought a 44ft ketch with a uninstalled stoboom which was never used as she already has a roller reefing system on both booms and I only have one stoboom, so I find no need for it.

Re winches: Barlow 27-46, self tailing 2-speed solid, working great. I bought it in ebay but the base is too big for the spot I needed them in.
Lee me know if you have any questions.

Not sure what the stoboom can fetch so I welcome any offers. Re winches : I paid 1200 for the pair, let me know.

Can you narrow down your location. Which hemisphere?

You really need to put up the length of the boom so people know if it will fit.

The Stoboom was made by Hood back in the early 80's and it was a problematic piece of equipment.
The line driver bearings made the hoisting and dousing difficult. Part of the problem is the 12 needle bearing that is held in place by a cheap plastic frame that breaks often and binds on the loose pile of bearings. A machine shop can turn down an oil-lite brass bushing, and that usually resolve the problem. Also It is very important to keep the boom at 90-degrees to the mast when dousing as if it is too high the sail will roll aft on the roller when coming down (and bind up) or it the boom is too low...the sail will travel forward and bind on the roller-driver.

Yep, I.will put up lenght as soon as I get back. As far as stoboom's functionality I won't pretend to know its shortcoming(s) but have noticed an equal number of those who swear by it as to its detractors. If I were to guess I'd go witn Patrick here, probably not for me.
Hence, I'd only reccomended it to those who know exactly how it operates and are looking to replace it on the main with a unused model.
I've also read that a roller boom collar may fix some of these issues

Hi,

are the Barlows still available? I´m looking for a pair
of "old school" selftailers fitting a classic late 50th boat.

Thanks

True for any in-boom furler, I think. Certainly for the LeisureFurl, which we have.
