Sherwood F85/G65 raw water pump rebuild kit

This rebuild kit is for the Sherwood F85 or G65 water pump">raw water pump found on many Perkins 4-107 and 4-108 engines and the Westerbeke equivalent. This is a complete, new kit and includes the impeller and cover gasket, the shaft seal, two new bearings, the engine to pump flange gasket, an all stainless (316 grade) pump shaft and two stainless drive keys (one as a spare). The kit also includes a 7 page instruction booklet on rebuilding the pump as well as a support tube and the drifts you need to rebuild the pump successfully. All you need to supply are few basic hand tools (screwdriver, pliers and a hammer), some dish soap, a little bit of oil, and some cleaning supplies. The kit is well packaged and would make an excellent addition to the 'spares' locker. Cost is $145US plus shipping (package is 6x5x5 and weighs about 2.5 pounds). Item is located in British Columbia, Canada, but as I am just north of the border I can post it from the US (adds $10 to the cost as that is what US customs will charge me to take it south). I can also supply the kit without the drifts and instruction set and in that case the cost would be $130US plus shipping. Any questions - I'm happy to answer. This is a great deal - if you can find it, the original shaft costs about $100 by itself, and it is an inferior product comparied to the one in this kit! Please note that although the pictures show the bearings seperate from the shaft, when you get the kit the bearings will be installed on the shaft (unless you request otherwise).

Re: Sherwood F85/G65 raw water pump rebuild kit

Hello - still available - A great kit when you get tired of paying $400 plus for a new raw water pump - as long as the outer housing is okay the kit will bring your pump back to where it is supposed to be! Just let me know if you’re interested.

Impressive product...
I don’t suppose you have a kit for the 10970 Jabsco that goes on the 4-236?

Yes, I do have more than one, but am a little confused by your comment regarding long and short shaft - as far as I know the Sherwood G65/F85 fitted to the Perkins only came in one shaft length (approx. 2.220 inches). Could you clarify? My pump shafts are machined out of one solid piece of 316 stainless - I can certainly machine a different shaft length, but would need the specs to do so.

Hello Jim,
Unfortunately not. I did a little research on your pump and while it is certainly a more sophisticated pump than the Sherwood, it is not an overly complicated affair (although it would appear that it came in at least 3 different shaft lengths). The sourcing of parts and the machining of the shaft would be pretty straight forward, but without detailed specifications or an actual pump to measure I am afraid that putting a kit together would be impossible. Are you simply looking for a rebuild kit ‘in case’ or is your pump currently out of commission?

Hello Nathan,
Sorry - slight error in my reply, the shaft is approx 3.22 inch’s long, not 2.22!

Hi Rob
I have 2 pumps... one that I am currently rebuilding, the other as a spare. Both have shafts in poor condition one is ok but the other is pitted in the seal area. I’d like to get new shafts.
Everything else I can get.

Re: Sherwood F85/G65 raw water pump rebuild kit

Hi Jim,
If all you are looking for are the shafts I would be more than happy to machine a couple up for you. I normally work in 316 Stainless, but can make them out of whatever material you would like (316 is a bit harder to machine, but the finish is really nice, which helps the seals live longer, and it does hold up very well). The only thing I would need are all the dimensions, or an old, but measurable shaft. Unless you are used to providing machining dimensions it is often easier for me to work from the actual shaft. If you’re interested just let me know - promise it won’t cost you an arm and a leg (two new shafts in 316 will be about $100 Canadian each) and generally it does not take very long (the mail being the slowest portion of the whole thing).

Thank you Rob, the kit was perfect! My bearings, seals, and shaft were all rusty and scored...the tools made it too easy!
