The Thompson is the original of this type but I don't think they're still made. The Sailrite LS(Z)1 is a beefed up copy of the Thompson and is available in straight only or straight/zig zag. The Rex and Barracuda are essentially the same but not "beefed up", and are about 1/3 the price of the Sailrite. Be aware Sailrite beefed them up for a reason, there are a few
parts in the cheaper ones that probably will break. But, the beefed up
parts are available from Sailrite and are not expensive, and they are drop in
replacements if you are at all handy. I've had to replace two parts on my Rex and it works as well as a Sailrite. I also added the Sailrite Monster
Wheel, it halves the speed and doubles the torque. Increases
power and controllability.
