scammer on the forum
@admins: I have received PM's for parts from user "codinah802" asking that I contact them privately via the email "alexphilip23sr@gmail.com".
The username was registered this month and the 3 posts are fairly typical for a scammer - generic "I like this" and such.
A quick google search shows this exact email scamming other forums.

Re: scammer on the forum
TiP... thanks for the heads up.
Could you please click the red and white triangle in the upper right hand of the PM to report this and all other such PMs. This will get our attention more surely than a post like this one which we might miss seeing, and then we can take appropriate action.
For the mod team,
Jim

Re: scammer on the forum
He was excommunicated yesterday and won't be bothering us again.
Good spot, and if others appear which they will, just drop us a quick report with the original pm message. There is an "report pm" flag which looks like a small red/white triangle top right of each pm message for this.

Pete, I do like the term " excommunicated" , I have reported several over the years and IMHO their absence makes the forum stronger.

I might apply for the excommunicator position - sounds more exciting then a lowly moderator -

Personally, the term I would like to see is "castrated", (with a piece of broken glass picked out of a sewer) rather than excommunicated!

Re: scammer on the forum
There seems to be an uptick in this scam recently. Every Facebook group I am in now has them, even those that are well moderated and don't allow sales. I'm sure there are several on here.
Some of them involved 3 or 4 accounts which comment on each other's posts for a week, and stage a sale in public view with a happy customer.
Always use a service that offers buyer protection. And pay attention to language cues. There is often a tell in word choice when someone is in India or Africa and English isn't their native language. Tracking numbers sometimes aren't even helpful, as they can create one online and fake ship something, or ship something small to a random address.
Edit:
And stall. I got lucky because of that. I was being scammed, and it didn't "feel" right. There were signs, but it was something I needed. I waited a few days, and reached out to converse with some "people"(fake accounts) that had successful sales. Two days later when I tried to pay him, his Zelle account had been closed. I've since learned, don't use Zelle, as it doesn't offer buyer protection.

Good advice above! I would also add, don't use Paypal and mark it as "friends and family" as many scammers request. Go ahead and mark it as payment for goods, and offer to pay the additional 3 or 4% that Paypal skims off the top of the paid amount. That way, if you have a problem you have recourse. If you mark it as friends and family to save the minimal fee, you have no recourse . . . .

Re: scammer on the forum
I just signed up in the classifieds of our local rag here in Northern Ca. 40 words and 1 picture for $70. ! All I have received so far are offers from Nigerian Prince's.
