Raymarine/Autohelm Autopilot Linear Rudder Position Sensor

Raymarine part number M81188 Linear Rudder Position Sensor. Unit electronically operates and wires up the same as a Raymarine rotary position sensor, but is typically used in outboard motor installations as attached to the outboard and exposed steering ram. This item can also be used in sailboat installations where a tiller arm is used for steering, or where a rotary sensor can't physically be installed. Essentially both the rotary and linear sensors are a 5K potentiometer that provide rudder location information back to the autopilot for improve rate sensing and to decrease steering overshoot. This item can be attached to a sailboat or powerboat below deck steering quadrant or hydraulic ram.

Note the pictures attached show the closed length, and the open length position of the SST rod sensor. Calculation of the correct attachment point to the steering connection is the same for either rotary or linear, being the steering system stop points must occur before the sensor stop points. Instructions are included and it is a reasonably easy work effort to install.

Price: $150.00 + shipping from Palmetto, FL, or free local pickup.
