Reverse Osmosis operation, 12V or Manual.
This unit is the predecessor of the
Katadyn 40E, but produces almost the same amount of
water and uses the same amount of
power. (1.4 gal/h, 4A at 12V).
Membrane is good. Unit has been tested with both tap
water and clean seawater and is in working order, with no issues. Using clean seawater, the unit output fresh water with 180 PPM of dissolved solids (see
photo below). Discharge ratio also appeared within spec -- produced about 500ml of fresh water form 2.5 gallons of seawater (specs are 15 gals of seawater for 1.4 gallons of fresh). Since the unit is not currently on the
boat, I have been running it weekly for about an hour with fresh water to flush the membrane in lieu of pickling the membrane.
Unit is exceptionally quiet -- which might be normal among watermakers, I'm not sure.
Only issues are chipping
paint on the
aluminum body, which is purely cosmetic.
Will also include the membrane
cleaning tube and and fittings, pre-filter unit, and anything else I have with the unit still.

California central coast and Los Angeles (I drive south about once a month for
work and can drop it off anywhere along the way).
